How do you describe a calling? What does this mean for you? Have you ever felt something inside yourself that you know to be true, and yet when asked to explain your why, words fail you? Well this is how my journey began, and after ten years I have learned that in following this calling and discovering my purpose, it is more about enjoying the journey than reaching any destination. What emerged as a calling has led me to finding true joy. On this journey I have found joy in simplicity, opportunity amidst struggle, and myself above all. Finding your joy, what makes you happy and what makes you come alive is often not as simple as it seems, it’s not even always supported and it’s certainly not linear. It is finding yourself only to lose yourself later, then rebuilding yourself more completely each time you begin again. It is learning, and unlearning, all that society has told us to be true about who we are, who we should be, what we should value and where we should dedicate our time. It is digging deep to unpack the layers of the human body we inhabit to discover who we truly are, then putting that self out into the world to see what this crazy life has in store for us. While I have spent more time than not doubting where I am headed and still lose sight of this joy at times, I can look back now and know that every step leading up to this moment was a part of the plan.
My hope for his space is that it can be one of compassion, connection, truth and hope. I hope to share what I have discovered, which are woven through stories of traveling, life, and work. I hope to share my stories and hold space for yours, for I believe it is in these stories that we come to know each other and come to know ourselves. I hope I can give you something to take with you, or the courage to leave something behind. I hope in this space you know that you are never alone, and through these stories you know that you can do big things. Above all, whether in these pages or somewhere else, I hope you find joy.
